Hey there, crafty friends! 👋 Welcome back to the ScrapbookPal Blog!
Â
It’s Deepa from @deezinesbyd, and today I’m sharing this vibrant and interactive easel card featuring the Altenew Build-A-Garden: Leaning Lily Kit, available at ScrapbookPal! 🩵🩷✨If you love dimensional papercrafting, eye-catching geometric stenciling, and adding unique structural twists to your card designs, this project is definitely for you!
Â

What I love most about this card is how beautifully it transitions from a flat, easy-to-mail design into a stunning dimensional display piece. With the Altenew Build-A-Garden sets, you get incredibly detailed stamped images and coordinating layering elements that do all the heavy lifting for your focal points. For this project, I paired a gorgeous, vividly colored lily with a bold stenciled backdrop to create a card that is bursting with modern elegance and personality.
Â
One of my favorite features on this card is the dynamic easel structure. Instead of creating a traditional flat card, the card base folds to allow the main design panel—featuring the lily layered over an elegant gold-trimmed label die cut—to stand upright on display. This simple technique adds instant wow-factor and turns a handmade greeting into a beautiful piece of desk decor that the recipient can enjoy day after day. I hope you'll love this interactive idea and give it a try on your own projects!
Â

I started by creating the main background panel using a bold stencil by Altenew called Geometric Mix. I sectioned off triangles in the design and added bright teal and coral inks to create a striking pattern that offers an awesome modern contrast to the organic lines of the florals. Once the stenciling was complete, I attached 2 panels (one each) to the top-folding card base, scored and folded the card base to create the easel mechanism.
Â
The focal point is where this card really comes to life! I stamped and colored the gorgeous lily from the Leaning Lily Kit, blending rich coral and peach tones onto the petals, complemented by lush green stems and buds with inks from Pinkfresh Studio. I die-cut the finished image and layered it over an intricate, gold-foiled decorative frame to make the colors pop against that geometric background.
Â

To add even more meaning to the design, I took advantage of the interactive easel style to create a two-part sentiment story. On the front of the card, a crisp sentiment banner reads "may each day bring you new strength" . But the real magic happens when you prop the card open! Nestled on the inside base is a matching gold-trimmed frame (made using the Pinkfresh Studio Dotted Francy Frames dies) that acts as the "stopper" for the easel, revealing the sweet hidden message: "even in a storm, you bloom".
Â
To finish the card, I added a touch of sparkle with perfectly placed gold gem embellishments scattered around the lilies and the stenciled panels. These finishing touches catch the light beautifully and tie together the gold foiled borders for an extra cohesive, polished look. 💎✨
Â

This project is a great reminder that interactive cardmaking doesn't have to be overly complicated to be deeply impactful. By combining a beautifully blended floral focal point, a high-contrast stenciled backdrop, and a fun easel fold, you can create a card that's full of dimension, encouragement, and charm. I hope this card inspires you to experiment with interactive folds, play with bold color combinations, and bring your own Leaning Lily creations to life!

Thanks so much for stopping by, and happy crafting!🎨✨
