Hello friends, it’s Sandy Cogdill, @sandycogdilldesigns, with a card from the new release by Gina K. This stamp and die set is called Vintage Spring and it is just beautiful and I am so excited to share this card with you.
For the background on this card, I started with white cardstock cut at 6” x 6”. I wanted to keep the background coloring very soft, so I watered down some Distress Oxide Inks on my glass surface and then randomly pressed my cardstock in the ink. Once my ink background was dry, I used the butterfly, bird and scrip stamps to lightly ink my background also. The Distress Oxide Ink colors that I used are; Speckled Egg, Victorian Velvet, Gathered Twigs and Tattered Rose. I also gave it a spritz with Speckled Egg Distress Oxide Spray.
I cut my background to 4.0” x 5.25” using the Outside In Stitched Rectangle Stackables by Lawn Fawn.
I wanted to add a little bit of glitz, so I heat embossed some leaf sprigs from the stamp set using Versamark Watermark Ink Pad and Metallic Gold Rich Wow Embossing Powder in random spots on the edges.
Using the bird and tree branch stamp with Gathered Twigs Distress Oxide Ink, I heat embossed those images with Clear Gloss Super Fine Wow Embossing Powder. I did the same thing for the sentiment only I used Speckled Eggshell Distress Oxide Ink.
I always like to have a little dimension on my cards, so sometimes, rather than use foam squares or dots, I will use the die to cut multiple layers of cardstock and then glue them together. For this card, I used two layers of cardstock in addition to the stamped image to create the dimension I was looking for with the tree branch, bird and sentiment.
To add just a tiny bit more dimension and texture to this card, I used Spellbinders Teal Mixed Wax Beads along with Honey Bee Stamps 3D Sunflower Wax Stamper.
To finish up this card, I cut a piece of teal cardstock with the Large Stitched Rectangle Die from Lawn Fawn. I used Bearly Art Craft Glue to put everything together.
This was a really fun and quick card to make and I can’t wait to play around with these stamps and dies in the future.
Thank you so much for stopping by the blog today!
Sandy
