Hello ScrapbookPal friends! Vicki Fedor back again with Hero Arts On Parade... wait! Where is the parade? Well, I'll tell you - I fell in love with this little Santa stamp from the Hero Arts - Parade Day Collection - Stamp & Cut - On Parade, and decided I wanted him front and center, not floating above from tethers. He's just too darn cute!! There already are lots of cards made for this set with the characters depicted as parade balloons. You can check out the ScrapbookPal or Hero Arts pages for ideas. I decided to decorate my Hero Arts - Parade Day Collection - Dies - City Skyline and add a shaker element to make it snow. What's Christmas without snow? Another inspiration for me was the sentiment from Hero Arts - Parade Day Collection - Clear Stamps - The Holiday Season.
I stamped Santa first, the star of the card, with Tsukineko - VersaFine Ink Pad - Onyx Black and Ranger Ink - Tim Holtz - Distress Oxide Ink Pad in Lumberjack Plaid. I tried two different green inks and settled on Mowed Lawn. I liked how it was a bright, happy green. I recalled a cross-stitch project I did a long time ago. It was a Colonial Williamsburg Christmas scene done in only two colors of thread - green and red. I love it and display it every Christmas. That was another inspiration for this card, but I did end up adding yellow Mustard Seed ink for a couple stars.

I stamped more images than I needed with the Hero Arts - Parade Day Collection - Stamp & Cut - On Parade set, cut out the buildings with Hero Arts - Parade Day Collection - Dies - City Skyline , and then just played around until it looked right to me.

Next I stamped my sentiment from Hero Arts - Parade Day Collection - Clear Stamps - The Holiday Season with Gina K. Designs - Pigment Ink Pad - White on red cardstock that matched Santa, and used Gina K. Designs clear embossing powder over it.
I made a background shaker window with a piece of clear acetate and a frame cut with Pinkfresh Studio - Dies - Essentials: Double Stitched Rectangles. I used Altenew - Instant Dimension Foam Tape - 1/8" x 1/4" x 10m to make the shaker window pocket. I began to fill the shaker element with snow and stars dies that come with the City Skyline Dies, but that was taking forever. I did use the paper pieces that I had cut but ended up mostly filling the shaker with Ranger Ink - Tim Holtz - Distress Glitter + Mica Flakes - Snowflakes, which I like much better. If you look really closely you might see a couple silver stars or white paper snow circles in the shaker, but you might not!

This was really fun for me to make! I can think of a lot of other cards where I could have used a city skyline in the past. I know I'll be reusing that all year. The tiny helicopter die that comes with the City Skyline set is super cute too. At one point, Santa was going to be riding on top of the helicopter, or hanging below it, but I decided to play it safe. Thank you for viewing my design. My supplies are listed below, and available at ScrapbookPal.com!
