Hello there! This is Colleen Beamish from @humorbean_cards and today I’m sharing a floral birthday card featuring the Altenew Blossoming Trio Outline Stamp Set, Layering Stencils, and Add-On Die Set. I paired this beautiful floral image with Pinkfresh Studio inks for some easy ink blending and finished the card with a few touches of gold.
One of my favorite things about coordinating stamp, stencil, and die sets is how much detail you can get from a single image. The stencils take the guesswork out of adding color and shading, while the stamped outline keeps everything crisp and defined.
Creating the Floral Image
I started by stamping the large floral image from the Altenew Blossoming Trio Outline Stamp Set. I then used the coordinating Blossoming Trio Layering Stencils to add color to the flowers and leaves.
For the ink blending, I used Pinkfresh Studio inks, choosing a mix of soft pinks for the flowers and greens for the foliage. Working through the different stencil layers makes it easy to build up the color and add depth while keeping the overall look soft.
Once all of the ink blending was complete, I used the Blossoming Trio Add-On Die Set to cut out the entire floral image.
Assembling the Card
Because the Blossoming Trio image is so large and detailed, I kept the rest of the card fairly simple.
I added a white cardstock panel to a dusty blue card base, leaving a generous border of blue around the outside. I arranged the die-cut floral image so that it extends beyond the edges of the white panel, which helps emphasize its size and gives the design a little more movement.
The contrast between the blue card base and the pink and green floral image also helps the flowers stand out without adding another pattern or complicated background.
For the sentiment, I added a simple “happy birthday” near the lower left corner of the white panel. Keeping the sentiment small leaves plenty of room for the floral image to remain the focal point.
Finishing Touches
To finish the card, I scattered a few gold embellishments around the floral image. The small touches of metallic shine add some extra interest to the open areas of the card without distracting from the flowers.
I love how this card turned out! The combination of the stamped outline and ink-blended stencil layers creates a detailed floral focal point, but the coordinating products make the process surprisingly straightforward.
You could easily recreate this design in completely different color combinations for birthdays, thank-you cards, thinking-of-you cards, or other occasions.
