Hello there, Carrie Rhoades here, I am happy to be bringing you another project featuring Avery Elle’s Peek-a-Boo line. The Peek-a-Boo boat is one of the newest additions to this fun critter themed line of stamp and dies. I fell in love with it the instant I saw it. The boat is so cute and there are two critters in this set; a whale and a Hammerhead shark. I found that this set pairs perfectly with the Peek-a-Boo Summer Pals set and I used that set in today’s card as well.
I started by stamping and coloring in all the images I wanted to use on this card. I used Copic markers for the coloring, my current favorite method of coloring. Then I die cut out the pieces and put the critters in their flotation devices. My favorite things about the Peek-a-Boo line is that all the critters have feet, or wings and fins in this case, which really gives them character when adding them to objects such as the tubes in this card.
For the water part of the background I ink blended some Salty Ocean Distress Oxide ink on to a panel of white card stock that I die cut out with the largest rectangle die from the Slimline Large Die Set by Lawn Fawn. When I had the ink coverage I wanted I die cut this panel with one of the Slimline Stitched hillside borders to make the wave.
For the sky part of the background I inked a free hand circle in the upper left corner of a second die cut panel (using the same large slimline die by Lawn Fawn) with Mustard Seed Distress Oxide ink. Then I layed down a few die cut cloud from the Cloudy Mat die to use ask masked while I ink blended over the top of them with Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide ink. I removed the masks, leaving behind white clouds. All the ink blended panels were spritzed with water for the splatter effect. I also splattered on some Clear Shimmer Spray to the water panel only. Once dry I stamped the sentiment in the upper right corner of the sky panel with Salty Ocean Distress ink.
Then I adhered all the images to the water panel and the water panel to the sky panel with foam adhesive squares.
The card front was mounted on a turquoise panel that measures 8-¾: x 3-¾”. This was then mounted to the card base of bright yellow. The card base itself measures 9” x 8” and is scored at 4”.
I did not leave out the inside of the card. I reused the other half of the panel that was left over after die cutting the water background. I added more ink and die cut the edge again with a Slimline Stitched Hillside border die. This created another small wavy left over piece as well as a new wave panel. I mounted both to the inside of the card, creating depth.
I added two more critters from the Peek-a-Boo Summer Pals set to look as if they are popping up out of the water. They are probably wondering when it is their turn in the tubes!
The finishing touches for this card were highlights with a white gel pen and glossy accents on the watery images as well as the cute little flying fish. I am so in love with this Peek-a-Boo set and thrilled to add it to my collection of all thing Peek-a-Boo.
