Spellbinders - Storytelling Collection

Spellbinders - Storytelling Collection

Posted by Lieschen Harshbarger on

Hi crafty friends! Lieschen here excited to share with you today's card tutorial that features new dies from Spellbinders. This new die set is part of their Storytelling Collection but I decided to use it to make a Christmas card.

I started by die cutting all the pieces from the Home Sweet Home die set out of glitter and pattern (for the courtains) card stock. I die cut extras out of white card stock so I could glue them together for dimension.

After I was done die cutting, I used Copics to color the windows and add some light on the bigger window. Then, I added Stickles on the door knob.

When I was done glueing the cute house from the Home Sweet Home die set, I started working on the front panel piece for my A2 card base. I used the Nighttime Sky stencil  to ink the moon with white pigment ink. Then, I added Silver Lining Lunar Paste to add the craters on the moon.

I wanted to add some falling snow, so I splattered white opaque watercolor on the black background.

As I was making this background, I wanted to add more of winter look so I die cut one of the hills from the Stitched Hillside Borders out of white card stock. I also added some color using Pinkfresh Studio inks just on the border of the hill to make it look like fresh fallen snow.

Once I was done with the hill, I glued it to my front panel piece. I still wanted more sparkle so I added Stickles on the border of the hill.

To make it more of a Christmas card I die cut a Reindeer Sleigh and glued it to the background.

Now that my background was done, I still needed a sentiment for the card. So I used one of the sentiments from the Christmas Sentiments press plates & die set.

All that was left to do was to glue the die cuts and sentiments onto the front panel piece and then glue it to the card base.

Now that my card was done, all that was left was to pair it to a complimentary envelope and it will be ready to be mailed to a loved one this holiday season!

I hope today's card tutorial has given you inspiration to do something fun and creative this week. See you next time!
