Altenew | Build-A-Garden: Serene Blooms

Altenew | Build-A-Garden: Serene Blooms

Posted by Deepa Robbins on

Hey there, crafty crew! 👋 Welcome back to the ScrapbookPal Blog!

I’m Deepa from @deezinesbyd, and today I’m sharing a pair of soft, elegant floral cards featuring the Serene Blooms Build-A-Garden bundle by Altenew. Floral cardmaking is always such a calming creative escape for me, and this beautiful bundle brings together delicate line art, layered stencils, and coordinating dies—perfect for crafting graceful botanical pieces that bloom right off the card!

These cards were especially fun to create because they combine rich embossed texture with bright, vibrant florals. The contrast between the soft petal colors and the moody gray backgrounds gives both designs a modern, elevated feel while keeping them warm and heartfelt. If you’d like to see the full tutorial from start to finish, be sure to check out the YouTube video linked below!

To begin, I created the backgrounds using a the Altenew Botanical Rails embossing folder, which instantly adds depth and dimension without any extra fuss. The raised patterns make the perfect canvas for showcasing Altenew’s bold blooms while keeping everything cohesive and elegant.

For the first card, I used the Serene Blooms bouquet as a cascading cluster over the Pinkfresh Studio Dotted Fancy Frames label die. Soft yellow and cream accents balance beautifully with the bright pink petals, and the sentiment—sending happy thoughts—tucks in perfectly for a thoughtful, uplifting design. A few gems scattered around the florals add just the right amount of sparkle (Pinkfresh Studio Clear Ice Drops).

The second card highlights the same bundle but in a completely different way. This time, I arranged the blooms inside a delicate cream-colored vase (included in the Altenew die set) and offset the design with a slim strip of deep metallic magenta cardstock for contrast. The embossed gray background adds a sophisticated touch, while the sentiment—love you—keeps the card sweet and simple. Together, the vibrant florals and soft shadows create a serene, romantic vibe.

To finish both cards, I added small embellishments—clear droplets, gems, and subtle highlights—to tie everything together and bring the florals to life. These tiny accents elevate the designs without taking attention away from the botanical focal points.

In the end, this floral duo came together as a peaceful and stylish pair—perfect for sending love, encouragement, or just a little brightness someone’s way. I hope these cards inspire you to explore the versatility of the Serene Blooms Build-A-Garden bundle and experiment with pairing textured backgrounds and vibrant inks in your next project!

Have a Great Day & Happy Crafting!
