Avery Elle Balloon Greetings with Scalloped Burst Die

Avery Elle Balloon Greetings with Scalloped Burst Die

Posted by Vicki Fedor on

Hello ScrapbookPal friends! There's lots of good things to celebrate this time of year, especially graduations. We celebrate graduations from preschool all the way up to college. It's always a good idea to have a couple extra grad cards on hand. Here's a card I made for the ScrapbookPal Design Team using Avery Elle stamps and dies. This is my first time using products from this manufacturer, and they did not disappoint! The quality is exceptional, and they're super cute! I used the Avery Elle Balloon Greetings Clear Stamps and Balloon Greetings Dies, and the Avery Elle Scalloped Burst Dies, which I absolutely love! The Scalloped Burst Dies come with 2 greetings. I can't wait to use these on another project!

For this card, I was going for the Achievement Certificate look, with the black and gold frame. You know the ones… your kids bring them home at the end of the school year and pretend it's "no biggie", but you know they were smiling ear to ear when their name was called. To get this look, I die cut the burst die out of gold foil cardstock. I then used that die as a guide to position the separate inner scalloped die on a piece of black foil cardstock that I had cut to A2 (4.25 x 5.5 inch) size.

Next, I stamped the Balloon Greetings dog and the graduation hat on Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 110lb cardstock, and did some simple Copic coloring. I colored the balloons to match school colors for a certain somone I have in mind, who will be attending college this fall. I wanted the graduation cap to look black, but not be too black that it lost the stamped image, so I used a couple layers of Copic Sketch Marker T4, the darkest gray that I had. I used the coordinating dies to cut them out. I like how the die gives a small, fine border around the image. They are also very easy to line up. I used a little washi tape to hold them in place as I ran it through my machine, and it came out perfectly aligned.

This little dog was so cute, I couldn't help but picture him bounding across a yard, bringing balloons to a party! I decided to use Skyline Silhouettes from Sizzix to create a stencil that I could use to make some clouds, as well as a landscape to ground my puppy.

I made a quick stencil using a piece of heavy cardstock, and then blended green and blue for the grass and the clouds. I actually just used the ink that was left on my blending brushes from a different project, because I'm lazy, and I just needed the tiniest hint of color.

For the sentiment, I decided to use two small greetings from the stamp set: "Good Luck" and "Way To Go". I positioned the pieces together to get an idea for placement, and then stamped the sentiments using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and my Misti. They absolutely needed exclamation marks, so I added those with a fine tip black marker. I glued the layers of the border together and attached them to my background using my favorite glue from Bearly Arts, then I attached the dog, balloons, and hat with my favorite dimensional 3d foam tape from Scrapbook Adhesives.
