Hi friends, Marla here with another card share featuring products from the new Catherine Pooler and Sizzix partnership. When I saw the monkey's and the beautiful tropical vibe of the stencil, I wanted to jump on a plane and head to Costa Rica. How much fun would that be? Instead, I let my imagination fly and created this fun card.
It's always a joy to ink blend on white cardstock with Tim Holtz Distress Inks. I chose a variety of bold colors for the flowers and foliage. Then, I inked a third panel using browns and cream for the monkey.
Next, I used the "
Go Bananas" dies to cut out the monkey, flowers and foliage. Then I assembled all of the pieces. I used a black pen to fill in the face of the monkey and a
Copic R2 Marker for the hands, feet and cheeks.
Next, I cut a teal piece of cardstock to 4.25" x 5.5". The green piece was cut to 4" x 5.25" and I used a couple of older dies from Lawn Fawn to cut two circles. I then used the Tim Holtz 3D Texture Fades Mini “
Cobblestone” embossing folder, for added texture, to the smallest circle.
Moving on to the stenciled background. I used three of the four "
It's a Jungle Out There" layering stencils. I focused on adding the foliage and omitted the layer with additional flowers. Then I used my paper trimmer to cut the cardstock. I cut at an angle at the bottom of the piece for more interest. I am not sure of the exact measurements because I simply eyed it.
Next, I heat embossed the bananas with "
Versamark" ink, "
white" embossing powder and the "
Go Bananas" stamp set. I used Copic Markers
E41,
Y23 and
YG01 to color in my bananas. Then, I heat embossed the sentiment onto the green layer of cardstock.
Finaly, I assembled the card. I added thicker
foam tape to the largest circle die and
thin foam squares to two bananas, the monkey and some of the flowers before adhering them to my card.
I hope you love this playful card as much as I do. Until next time.... Marla
