Raquel here from @paintsandglitter. Today I’m coming along with a Christmas card for you using Altenew’s Lush Botanicals: Poinsettia, Holiday Messages stamps, and Picture Frame Die set.
For today’s card, we’ll begin with a 5” x 6” card base (A), and an additional piece of card measuring 3.5” x 4.75” (B). Fold piece B at .5” along the 4.75” side, and adhere to the inner right-side edge of the card. In my video, you will see how I cover the tab with the inner matting layer, and also hide magnets between the matting layers for a special closure.
Create a sentiment using the Holiday Messages stamp set and black ink onto white card. Use the Picture Frame die set to add a focal point for your sentiment. I took advantage of some silver glitter paper for this and paired each frame with the front matting layers of the card. The neutral color adds just the perfect touch of shine. Using clear embossing powder will also add a delicate shine to the sentiment. In my video you can see the steps to follow.
Once all of the matting layers are added to the card base, you can cut the poinsettia pieces all in one go, and also use the same die to cut paper for the leaf layer. Once you have embossed all of the layers, use Scorched Timber oxide ink to dab the edges of the petals and leaves to create depth. Next, follow the center “T” apertures created with the die to layer each petal in place for your flower. For additional volume, you can also pinch the petals slightly with your fingers. Lastly, add a splash of shimmer using Distress Spritz in Fired Brick.
You can now gently layer the poinsettia onto the front of your card, and cut an additional large frame in white paper for the inside of your card. You can very easily make several poinsettias in one sitting, and the matching embossing folder gives so much realistic detail that your friends will be awe struck by how beautiful your projects will look!
