Class of 2026 - Classic Mouse Graduation Card - Spellbinders

Class of 2026 - Classic Mouse Graduation Card - Spellbinders

Posted by Sweta Changela on

Hello crafty friends! Today I’m sharing a fun and celebratory Class of 2026 graduation card featuring the adorable Classic Mouse graduate from the recent Spellbinders Classic Mouse Graduation collection. This design combines layered die cutting, BetterPress sentiments, and a soft ink-blended background to create a cheerful card perfect for honoring your favorite graduate.

Creating the Background

I started with a white A2 card panel and used the Burst Mode stencil from the March 2026 Monthly Kit to ink blend a soft radiating background. Keeping the blending light allows the focal elements to stand out while still adding subtle texture and depth. This stencil is perfect for celebratory cards, but you can easily substitute it with any stencil from your stash.

Die Cutting the Classic Mouse Graduate

Next, I used the Classic Mouse Graduation Dies to cut out all the pieces needed to assemble the graduate. I chose Spellbinders cardstock in Cosmic Sky and Teal Topaz as my primary colors and paired them with black and white cardstock for contrast. I diecut the face, body, robe, shoes, hands, diploma, and graduation cap, keeping all the pieces organized before assembling.

Creating the Sentiments and Numbers

For the sentiments and numbers, I used the Classic Mouse Graduation Sentiments Press + Foil + Die Set with BetterPress Ink in Sapphire. This set is incredibly versatile and includes everything needed for graduation cards — sentiments, numbers, and coordinating dies. I layered the numbers to create bold dimension and visual interest that draws attention to the year.

To create the hanging banner, I partially die cut the graduation hat four times from dark blue cardstock. These partial die cuts were attached to the top of each number, and then I threaded twine through the openings. I glued down the edges of the twine so the numbers remain slightly movable, creating a playful banner effect across the top of the card.

Assembling the Classic Mouse

Assemble the character in sections for easy layering:

  1. Mouse face
  2. Body with graduation robe and shoes
  3. Hand holding diploma
  4. Hand tossing graduation cap

Use adhesives for dimension:

This layered assembly brings the character to life.

Finishing the Card

Once the character was complete, I adhered the hanging number banner near the top of the card and added the “Class of” sentiment above it. The assembled graduate was placed in the center, and the “You Did It!” sentiment was popped up with foam adhesive for emphasis. To finish the card, I added a few gems for sparkle and extra celebration.

I hope this project inspires you to create your own graduation cards using layered die cuts and bold sentiments. The Classic Mouse Graduation collection makes it easy to mix and match elements for endless possibilities.
