Hero Arts Message In A Bottle

Hero Arts Message In A Bottle

Posted by Melanie Smith on

Hi Friends!

DT Melanie here with you from @melaniesmithstamps and I am excited to share with you my newest project. Today we are creating with the Summer By The Shore Collection by Hero Arts. This lovely collection is going to want you to craft summer scenes in your craft room all year round. It is truly magical. Let's take a look....

When I am creating scene cards, I use a 5-step process. The first step is always considering the story I want to portray. Of course, with this card, we have an idea of what the story might be. Maybe a lost love leaving a message in the bottle hoping someone will find it and return that love? Or a shipwrecked person on a deserted island puts a plea for help on the message, hoping someone will see it and come to their rescue?

In Step 2 of my design, I always focus on the background. You can use any technique that goes along with your theme. In my card design today, the background is created in 3 steps. First we will ink blend two different panels, then we will press the bottom panel with the gorgeous Hero Arts Scattered Shells Press and Foil Plate using Lisa Horton's Metallic Ink.

Step 3 is designing the foreground of my scene. That can be done by using stamps, coloring, die cuts, ephemera, whatever you want to design your scene. In today's design, we are using the Hero Arts Message in a Bottle Die Set as our focal.

Step 4 is assembly. Now your final vision begins to form before your eyes. Your story is coming together. The scene is set with the background and foreground becoming one.

Lastly, in step 5 you add a sentiment and/or embellishments to your design as needed. Remember, YOU are the artist. Now sit back and take a look at your vision, and BE PROUD!

Here is the full video if you would like to craft right along with me in the making of this card. I would love to Craft Life With You!
