Nuvo Shimmer Powder Cards

Nuvo Shimmer Powder Cards

In today's blog and video we are using Nuvo Shimmer Powder and Avery Elle Stamps to create these colorful cards. Enjoy!

Step 1: Cut down photo or Yupo paper down to 2 3/4 x 3 3/4.

Step 2: Decide on three coordinating Nuvo shimmer powders. Lightly tap each powder on your paper in horizontal lines. One right after the other. I used, Blue Blitz, Sunray Crossette and Cherry Bomb.

Step 3: (Technique #1) Using a spray bottle with plain water, lightly spray on top of the powders. Be careful not to spray too close as the powders will blow away. Quickly lay a napkin on top of the paper to soak in the water. Lightly dry it with your heat tool or let air dry.

Step 4: (Technique #2) Decide on one color and lightly tap at one corner and spread out at a diagonal on your paper. I chose to use Meteorite Shower.

Step 5: Using a spray bottle with plain water, lightly spray on top of the powder. Let it trickle down just a bit before applying the napkin to soak in the excess. Dry with your heat tool.

Step 6: (Technique #3) Decide on coordinating colors to make a rainbow/tie dye effect. Apply the colors in a row, one after the other. This time apply them in vertical lines. I used five colors. I picked Green Parade, Solar Flare, Cherry bomb, Blue Blitz and Storm Cloud.

Step 7: Using a spray bottle with plain water, lightly spray on top of the powders. Using a piece of clean acetate, lay it on top of your wet paper and powders. Spread a little bit with your fingers and quickly pull the acetate away. Dap it with your napkin and dry with your heat tool.

Step 8: (Technique #4) Using a spray bottle with plain water, douse the paper heavily first. Then select your shimmer powders to lightly tap on top of the paper while it is wet. You may have to add more water to keep the paper wet and the powders flowing. I used Cherry Bomb, Solar Flare, Green Parade and Meteorite Shower. Dab it with your napkin and dry it with your heat tool.

Step 9: Cut down card stock to make your card base. My bases are cut at 8" x 3". On the 8" side score at 4.Use your bone folder to crease the fold. This should make your finished folded size 4" x 3".

Step 10: If you’re using a dark card base base, cut down white card stock for the inside message. They should be cut down to 2 7/8 x 3 7/8.

Step 11: Layer a piece of card stock that is contrast to your shimmer powder images. I used rose gold. This is cut down again as the same size as the inside 2 7/8 x 3 7/8.

Step 12: Then layer your shimmer powder images on top. They should be cut down to 2 3/4 x 3 3/4
