Raquel here, coming along for ScrapbookPal.com today with the Ornamental Beauty collection from Pinkfresh Studio. This collection features beautiful Christmas baubles with floral motifs and darling sentiments that will help you celebrate the best season of the year! Today I bring you an easy tutorial using gentle colors in teals and pinks, as well as little tips on how to make your card stand out.
We will begin by stamping the Christmas ornaments onto heavy cardstock using black archival ink. You can also use Betterpress ink as it is also waterproof then dry. This step will be important once we begin to apply the layers of color! You can also stamp the sentiment of choice with Aquamarine ink from Pinkfresh studio. Create a complimentary drop shadow with the same cutting die used for the sentiment, and color it using a contrasting pink ink.
Once you have chosen your remaining ink colors, use the six matching stencils to apply gradients of color to each bloom, ribbon, and leaf of your ornaments with gentle strokes and small brushes to ensure even color application. You will see the progression of colors in my video tutorial linked below. I have also added a photo of the finished results for reference. For small highlights, add stippling and dashes with a white gel pen onto the colored images.
Create a 5”x7” base card and score the card front at 2.5”. Using double sided adhesive, apply a strip to the interior of the card left of the score line. Using the adhesive as a guide, cut 2.25” away from the card front, which will help create a floating frame card front. In my video tutorial you will see how the correct scissors will help make this very easy! Folding the .25” edge of the card and adhering it to the remaining 2.5” side will create a nice finished front. You can now cover these panels with matching matting layers.
Lastly, use foam adhesive to layer your elements, and a small vellum window as a frame for your sentiment. For extra shine, add small pink gems and delicate Nuvo drops to the perimeter of each frame. The result is a fantastically delicate interpretation of Christmas any recipient will enjoy. I hope you give this a try, subscribe for more ideas, and come back for more tutorials!
