Spellbinder Halloween Tick Tock Cuckoo Clock

Spellbinder Halloween Tick Tock Cuckoo Clock

Hi Friends!  It’s Sandy with @SandyCogdill with a beautiful Halloween Card.  I love this time of year because Halloween is my favorite holiday to make cards for.

This card is created with the recent Spellbinders Cuckoo Cottage Collection. This is such a fun collection because it has the standard Cuckoo Clock and Add On for Halloween, Thanksgiving and Winter.  I chose the Spellbinders Cuckoo Cottage Collection Cuckoo Cottage and the Halloween Tick Tock add on.

I wanted a fun background but felt like the clock was going to be busy enough, so I used the All About Chirstmas Collection – Bow & Bell Scallop Frame to create my background.

I cut the scalloped part of the frame from purple cardstock and dusted up the edges with a little Villainous Potion Distress Oxide Ink. I used the die that is the next size down from scalloped frame to cut a piece of gray cardstock.  I dusted the gray cardstock with a little Hickory Smoked Distress Oxide Ink.  I glued the purple/gray scalloped piece on a piece of turquoise cardstock. Once I had those layers adhered together, I place them on a piece of 5.0” x 4.25” black cardstock.  I like to use my Sweet Petunia Precision Glue Press with Bearly Art Precision Craft Glue.

Next, I started to build my cuckoo clock.  I used two shades of turquoise cardstock along with orange, light gray, white, purple, yellow and black cardstock for all the little pieces.

Once I placed the trim on the house, it felt a little flat, so I took a C2 Copic marker and added shading to give it the appearance of woodgrain.  For the purple pieces, I dusted the edges with Villainous Potion Distress Oxide Ink.  On the orange cardstock, I dusted the edges with Crackling Campfire Distress Oxide Ink.  I used Hickory Smoked Distress Oxide Ink on the light gray cardstock and Pumice Stone Distress Oxide Ink on the white cardstock.

I found it easiest to build the cuckoo house first so I knew where to place it on my background and where to place the chains and the pendulums as the bottom.

There are so many fun little pieces in the Halloween Tick Tock add on that it was hard to decide which ones to use.  I chose the two black cats that mirror each other along with a couple of pumpkins, a bat, a skull, a bone, a piece of candy corn, ghosts and cute little ghosts.

I am just crazy about how this card turned out and I may have to hang on to it for a little bit.  I am also looking forward to making a Thanksgiving and Christmas card with the other add on dies.

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you have been inspired to make a Halloween card of your own.

Sandy
