Hey there, crafty crew! 👋 Welcome to the ScrapbookPal Blog!
I’m Deepa from @deezinesbyd, and I’m so excited to share this fun holiday card featuring the Spellbinders All About Christmas Collection by Lisa Horton! Even though we’re only at the end of summer, I created this card because it’s never too early to spread a little holiday cheer.
The holiday season always inspires me to pour a little extra love into my handmade creations, and this cheerful birdie Christmas card was no exception—it was such a joy to design! If you’d like to see the full process from start to finish, be sure to check out the YouTube tutorial linked below for all the crafty details.
I started with a bold purple card base to set the tone—it’s vibrant, festive, and makes everything on top really stand out. For the background, I used the diagonal stripe die plate from the Lots of Stripes die set and layered soft purple behind yellow, which gave me a playful, candy-cane inspired effect that instantly felt cheerful, but with non-traditional colors.
Next, I focused on the main characters of this card: two little birds from the Spellbinders Little Birdies die set. I cut all my die cuts out from white cardstock and added Pinkfresh Studio ink in the colors I desired. I like this technique because it makes the die cutting phase of this card much easier and I can tailor my colors to the colorway I prefer. I made the birds teal and red for a modern twist on Christmas colors, and I couldn’t resist adding a tiny envelope with a hand-drawn heart to one of them—it feels like a little love note flying in just for the holidays. This envelope is from the Yuletide Ride die set from the Wonderland Collection released last month. To top it off, I gave one bird a Santa hat, which adds such a whimsical seasonal touch.
To bring the scene together, I added brown branches with snowy white accents and tucked in a few green leaves for balance and brightness. Once the branches were in place, I arranged the birds so it felt like they were interacting, and suddenly the whole card told a little holiday story.
For the sentiment, I layered two pieces from the Christmas Sentiments stamp and die set: a slim strip reading “Sending Love This” across the top, paired with a bold “Christmas” layered die cut below. I love how the combination gives dimension and really emphasizes the joyful message. To finish everything off, I scattered some Pinkfresh Studios Iridescent Clear Drops across the background. They remind me of twinkling Christmas lights against the night sky, and they add just the right amount of shimmer. I also added some Diamond Stickles to the snowy parts of the branches to complete this winter scene.
In the end, this card turned out so bright, happy, and full of personality—exactly the kind of handmade touch I love to share for the holidays. Making it now gives me a head start on my Christmas crafting and keeps the festive spirit alive all year long!
Have a Great Day & Happy Crafting!
