Spellbinders | Modern Botanicals Collection | Card Making Tutorial

Posted by Deepa Robbins on

Hello crafters and welcome to the ScrapbookPal Blog!

My name is Deepa from @deezinesbyd and I’m excited to share two abstract mixed media cards using the Spellbinders Modern Botanical Collection by Dina Wakley.

Using a palette of black, white, gold, and vibrant splashes of color, I focused on crafting visually dynamic compositions that embody elegance and modernity. The combination of these elements lends a unique, abstract quality that ties seamlessly with the Modern Botanical Collection’s aesthetic. To see how this card came together, simply click the ScrapbookPal YouTube link below.

To bring these designs to life, I experimented with a delightful mix of techniques, including foiling, letter press, embossing, watercolor, and die-cutting. Each method added its own touch of texture, depth, and artistry, resulting in cards that truly felt like miniature pieces of abstract art.

My primary backgrounds involved the utilization of the registration sheet from the Growing BetterPress set, in conjunction with the Lined Circles 2D embossing folder. For the sentiments, I used colored cardstock to foil the sentiments from the Pinkfresh Studio Grateful Greenery set.

To finish off these cards, I added gold string behind the sentiments and some embellishments with Pinkfresh Studio’s matte gold pearls and iridescent drops. I hope you like the results!

Have a Great Day & Happy Crafting!
