Spellbinders Summertime Camp Collection | Card Making Tutorial

Posted by Deepa Robbins on

Hey there, crafty crew! 👋 Welcome back to the ScrapbookPal Blog!

I’m Deepa from @deezinesbyd, and today I’m sharing a bright and adventurous summer card featuring the Spellbinders Summertime Camp Collection by Alli Frazier. If you love playful scene-building, layered die cuts, and cards that tell a story, this project is definitely for you! 🌲🎣

What makes this collection so fun is how effortlessly you can build a complete outdoor scene using layered dies. From the adorable raccoon and canoe to the scenic lake and tree line, every element works together to create a peaceful campsite vibe. The dies layer beautifully, adding depth and detail without needing any complicated techniques.

For this card, I started by creating a soft blended background using the Lakeside Memories layering stencils to mimic a calm lakeside setting, bringing in greens and blues to build that serene outdoor feel. I then framed the entire scene using the Spellbinders Mirrored Arch labels dies, which helps draw the eye inward and gives the card a storybook-like feel - almost like you’re peeking into a quiet moment in nature.

Next came the fun part which was assembling all the die-cut pieces! I built the adorable raccoon in his canoe as the focal point, complete with his little fishing pole and bright life vest. The rustic signpost adds a fun storytelling element, pointing to “cabins,” “lake,” and “trails,” and really ties the whole camp theme together.

To finish the design, I added the sentiment “Adventure Awaits” at the top of the scene. It perfectly captures the spirit of this card and complements the peaceful, outdoorsy theme. A clean frame around the card keeps everything grounded while still letting the scene shine as the main focus.

This card is a great reminder that scene-building with dies can be both relaxing and impactful. With thoughtfully designed collections like the Summertime Camp Collection, you can easily create detailed, story-driven cards that feel full of life and personality.

I hope this project inspires you to create your own little outdoor escape on a card and experiment with layering dies to tell your own story.

Thanks so much for stopping by, and happy crafting! 🎨✨
