Hello crafty friends!
Welcome back! I’m Dawn Pauley from D Pauley Designs, and today I’m excited to share this sweet village scene featuring the new Spellbinders Whimsical Village Collection. This collection is packed with charming houses, whimsical flowers, beautiful sentiments, and an incredible 3D embossing folder that makes creating playful scene cards so much fun.
To create the background I used the Whimsical Skies 3D Embossing Folder. The texture it creates is absolutely gorgeous and makes the perfect backdrop for a playful village scene.
To enhance the sky, I lightly blended Pinkfresh Studio Waterfall ink over the raised areas. I intentionally kept the ink very soft, allowing the embossed circles to remain the focal point while creating the look of a gentle blue sky.
I die cut all of my Whimsical House pieces from colorful cardstock along with two grassy borders for the landscape.
One tip that made assembly much easier was laying every die-cut piece beside the house where it belonged before gluing anything together. This saved so much time and eliminated the guesswork.
The Whimsical Blooms quickly became one of my favorite parts of this collection!
I lightly blended Grassy Knoll ink onto the flower stems and Wisteria ink onto the blossoms.
To finish the design, I stamped the sentiment “From Our Home to Yours” from the Whimsical Wishes stamp set onto white cardstock, trimmed it into a banner, added foam tape, and adhered it to the front of the card.
