Under the Sea Slimline Card

Hi creative friends, SweetD here from SweetDcreations11 and I’m back with an Under The Sea, congratulations, slimline card featuring some of my favorite mini stamp sets from Lawn Fawn!! I have packed this creation full of exciting details for the recipient to discover and I’m just loving how it turned out!! Check out my step by step guide below for inspiration & to help you recreate this magical reef scene for yourself, enjoy!!

Step 1:

I stamped out the following Lawn Fawn sets in Jet Black ink, in my Misti stamp positioning tool, onto watercolor paper. Stamp sets used were, So Jelly, Duh-nuh, and Seahorsin’ Around. I used the coordinating dies to cut them out.

Step 2:

I watercolored each image using Tim Holtz Distress Inks in the following colors:

Picked Raspberry

Carved Pumpkin

Squeezed Lemonade

Cracked Pistachio

Salty Ocean

Tumbled Glass

Wilted Violet

Hickory Smoke

Step 3:

I cut both background panels using Mama Elephants Slim Card Basics die set (alternative). I chose yellow for the scalloped edge die & light blue for the the stitched edge die. So that my scene would really pop off of the card base.

Step 4:

I Ink blended the stitched edge background panel with Salty Ocean Distress oxide ink around the outside edge and splattered it with a mix of Lawn Fawn Liquid Stardust & Salty Ocean distress ink.

Step 5:

For the sand/rock areas I ripped varying heights of paper bag card stock that were die cut with the same stitched edge detail. Then I distressed all the edges and added splatter for dimension, using Walnut Stain & Vintage Photo Distress Inks.

Step 6:

The sea grass portions & anemones I cut from rainbow colors/ multiple shades of green card stock using the HelloBluebird Tropical Foliage die set (alternative). For that extra sparkle & pizazz, details were added with Sakura Gelly Roll pens In complimenting colors, as well as Wink of Stella clear shimmer pen to finish them off.

Step 7:

For the corals I used the antler die from Mama Elephants Favor Bag Snow Deer. And detailed with Sakura Gelly Roll pens to make them look more like coral and less like antlers hehe!!

Step 8:

I adhered my images using a mix of Art Glitter Glue & 3D dimensional foam squares. My “Star-fish” of the show, was adhered using a mini action wobbler!!

Step 9:

Once everything was in place, I embellished here & there with stickles glitter glue & also used Glossy accents to add tiny bubble details to the background and sea grasses. I used Art Glitter Glue again to adhere my main panel to the yellow scalloped edge panel.

Step 10:

I created a slimline card base using 110lbs card stock & I inked the edges a bit with some Cracked Pistachio Distress ink, before adhering my finished panels. Then I stamped my sentiment “CONGRATULATIONS YOU’RE A STAR!!!” on the inside along with a few coordinating images, in various colors of lawn fawn Ink. Merman, Lemonade, Peachy Keen, and Grape Soda.

Step 11:

For my final and favorite touch I stamped a few of the images in Salty Ocean Distress Ink onto my blue slimline envelope to give a tiny hint as to what the theme of the card was!!
