Spellbinders Critter Cards

Christmas Bandit Card -

For this card we are starting out with the Sea Sprite Nuvo Glacier Paste to create a background. With a dry brush apply the paste to card stock that is similar in color to the paste. Brush this on in a wavy motion from the left side to the right side of the card stock. Repeat this until the entire 4” x 5-¼” piece of cardstock is covered. Set this aside to dry.

Die cut all the pieces for the racoon in gray, white, black and red card stock. Follow the picture on the back of the Christmas Bandit packaging as well as the guide in the video for putting this little critter together. Also, die cut 2 trees from light green card stock and one tree from dark green cardstock, as well as a tree trunk and snow for each of them. For this card you will need to die cut 5 ornaments from red cardstock. Assemble and adhere all the trees together. Decorating them with the snow and ornaments, saving one ornament for the racoon to hold. Set these aside.

Die cut two hills from white card stock using Lawn Fawn’s Simple Stitched Hillside Border dies. These hills should be 4” wide to match the width of the card front. Layer these together and then adhere them to the bottom of the now dry background.

Hot Foil “Happy Christmas” using the Holiday Sentiments Glimmer Hot Foil plates with Red Foil on cardstock that matches the card stock you used for the background. Die cut this with the banner die that comes with the hot foil set. Adhere the sentiment to the bottom of the card front, leaving a silver of the white snowy hill showing at the bottom. It will be wider that the card is, so just clip of the ends once you have it where you want it. Adhere the racoon and trees to the card to create the scene.

To accent this card, adhere Nuvo Crystal Gems as snow all over the sky.

Accent the top of the snowy hills, the snow on the trees and the white parts of the hat with Nuvo Glitter Drops in White Blizzard. When that is dry you can color in the ornaments with the Nuvo Glitter Marker in Fired Brick. When all is dry adhere this to a gray card base that measures 4-¼”x 11” and is scored at 5-½”.

Woliver Card -

To create the background for this card, start out with a white piece of cardstock that is 4” x 5-½”. Using the same dry brush apply the Sea Sprite Glacier Paste in a circular motion, building up some texture. Set this aside to dry.

Die cut all the pieces from the Woliver die set by Spellbinders form two shades of gray card stock, white, black, pink and red. Glue them together to make a walrus. Use the guide in the video and the picture on the back of the packaging so you know which piece is what and where it goes. Also, die cut 2 glaciers for this card. Next, die cut a tree, snow and 3 ornaments using the Christmas Bandit die set by Spellbinders. Once all these pieces are adhered, set them aside.

Using the Ocean Wavy border die set by Lawn Fawn, die cut all three waves from the now dry background. Put glue only at the bottom edge of the wave piece that has a flat edge, adhere this to a white card base that measures 4” x 5-¼”. Putting glue only at the bottom allows us to adhere the next wave panel and tuck it behind the first. Do the same with the last wave panel, leaving about 1-½” of white at the top for the sky.

Glimmer Hot Foil “Merry and Bright” from the Holiday Sentiments Glimmer Hot Foil set in Red Foil on to a light teal cardstock. Die cut this with the die from the same Holiday Sentiments Glimmer Hot Foil set. Adhere this to the bottom wave of the card, leaving about ¼” of the wave showing at the bottom. Trim off the excess that extends beyond the left and right edges of the card, so the sentiment is flush with the edges of the card front. Adhere the card front to a gray card base that measures 4-¼” x 11”, scored at 5-½”.

Adhere the two glaciers to the card. Add the walrus to the lower glacier and the tree to the top glacier. Accent the bulbs with the Fired Brick glitter pen. Accent the glaciers and snow on the tree with White Blizzard Glitter Drops. Add a few Crystal Gems to the tree for more decoration. To create the snow in the sky, use the White Blizzard Glitter Drops, applying small drops all over the card. Use a white gel pen to accent the eyes, nose and cheeks of the walrus to finish off this card.

These Christmas cards are so shiny! I love that when the recipient looks at this card when they turn it in the light, they are going to get shine, shimmer, and glitter.
