Beach Blankets & Brellas

Beach Blankets & Brellas

Posted by Kay Norman on

It's Kay kaycbyk here today to show you two cards I made with the fun Sizzix Catherine Pooler collaboration sets Beach Blankets & Brellas.
These are just so perfect for summer!
Steps for Relax You Deserve This Card:
First thing I did was cut out and assemble some blankets/towels and umbrellas from the Sizzix Catherine Pooler Blankets & Brellas #2 Thinlits set.
Second thing was to make my card background to look like sand. I took some light brown cardstock (Kraft is fine too) and inked it with some
Gathered Twigs Distress Ink.  Then splattered some white paint on it and used a fine tip black marker to add some dots and details on it.
Third step was to make some ocean come up on my sand. I took some aqua cardstock and cut it in a wavy shape and then added some white paint to the edges and adhered it to my sand.
Fourth thing was to cut it out with an A2 stitched rectangle die (make sure your paint is dry) and adhere it to a white card base.
Fifth step was to adhere my blankets/towels and umbrellas using some Bearly Art Glue and some Scrapbook Adhesives 3D Foam Squares.  I wanted the umbrellas to have some dimension so I creased the umbrella marks to make it stand off the card just a bit.
Sixth step was to stamp "You Deserve This" in Tsukineko's Versafine Onyx Black ink from the Va-Cay Mode Stamps that go along with this Sizzix Catherine Pooler release.
For my "Relax" sign I placed my little letters where I wanted on the background and then added some low tack tape so I could lift it off and apply some glue to the back and easily place my letters where I want them.
For some finishing touches I added some shadow marks with my Spellbinders Mini brush and the Gathered Twig Distress ink. As well as some bubbles with a white gel pen.
On Deck - Oh Happy Day card
I wanted this card to look like a deck so I took some of the same light brown cardstock I used for the sand on my first card and cut it to the size of my mini slim card.  I took a pencil and drew some horizontal lines and then used some Copics in E31, E35 and E39 to make my wood deck. I also added some fine point black pen details as well.
I used the Beach Blankets & Brellas stamp set to make my umbrellas and beach chairs and cut them out using the coordinating dies. To make them look like beach chairs I bent them to look like chaise loungers. I popped them up with some more foam squares.
I stamped Oh Happy Day with the same Versafine Black ink onto one of the larger umbrellas and hand cut  it out to accommodate for the sentiment going over just a bit.
I hope you enjoyed this taste of summer like I did. Makes me want to go layout at the pool and get some sun!
