Concord & 9th Birthday Scoops by Katie

Hey there friends.  Katie here today with a fun birthday card.  February is the one month of the year that I don’t have many family/friends birthday’s in my life, so it is a good time to make and stock up on birthday cards.  I was so excited to get and work with the new Concord & 9th Birthday Scoops Stamps and Die set.

This set is so fun and magical.  When I first started making this card, I intended to use the sentiment, but then I got a bit carried away with ice-cream and didn’t use the sentiment after all.  I will just put that aside for another day and another birthday card!

Here is how I made this one.  I started by using my Misti and Distress Oxides to create various types of sorbet and their accompanying cones.  For the ice cream, I used Twisted Citron, Salvaged Patina & Worn Lipstick.  I added the sprinkles to my pink ice cream with Ground Espresso.  My cones are made using Scattered Straw and Frayed Burlap.  I also came back around and stamped out a heart using Abandoned Coral.

Once I had the images stamped, I cut them out using the coordinating dies.  I added glossy accents to the sprinkles on my pink cone.  In hindsight, I should have done this after the fact since I ended up smearing this one all over (LOL)!  Doh, so I made it again, cut it again. I set these aside.  Next, I cut out some white using the Catherine Pooler Scallops and Dots Die Set.  Then I decided how I wanted to arrange all my pieces and mounted them all on the white using foam tape.

For the sentiment, I stamped one of the sentiments on white with Momento Ink and then cut it out using the LF Extra Seentiment Banner dies.  I mounted this on my white portion with more foam tape.  I set this portion aside and die cut the background layer to 4.25 X 5.5.  Initially I intended to use blue cardstock (in the pic below) but then I decided to use a Cantaloupe color instead. I die cut this using the Concord & 9th Stitched Stripe Card front.

I mounted my cantaloupe cardstock on my base using Scrappy Tape.  Then I mounted my white section on using foam tape.  I added more glossy accents after the previous debacle.  Lastly, I used some glue dots and added some incandescent sequins to the mix for a little flair.

I hope you enjoyed this post today.  Please check out these amazing products in the shop and hit us up for more inspiration any time.

I appreciate your stopping by! ~Katie
