Floral Hi Card

Floral Hi Card

Posted by Carrie Rhoades on

Hello Stampers today I get to share with you a beautiful new die set by Spellbinders, Floral Hi. This die set has an elegant feel to it and yet is simple. With all the dies in this set it’s easy to get lots of different looks. Today I am going to show you an easy trick to cover up the end of the stems, when you die cut the small add on pieces. Sometimes you may want them to show, but other times you don’t.

For this card, I decided to give it a simple elegant feel by using shades of grey and white for all the die cut pieces.

I die cut 2 of the base pieces from white. I ran the cluster of flowers die three times on a very light gray piece of cardstock. With the leaf cluster die, I used a medium shade of gray and ran that through the die machine 4 times. And lastly, I die cut the word “HI” from dark gray cardstock 2 times.

I paper pieced all the flowers and leafy branches I die cut over the top of one of the base pieces. I did not use any of the single leaves that I die cut, I wanted to leave some white on the base piece showing through.

Then I took my second base piece and cut off all foliage around the solid center, where I will mount the die cut letters. I was then able to mount this over the top of the base piece with all the paper piecing with foam squares, covering the ends of the stems.

To finish it off, I glued on the letters to spell hi. To give this a small amount of dimension, I glued the second set of die cut letters over the top. And this piece is finished.

For my card I took a piece of Watercolor Wishes paper and cut it to 3-⅞” x 5-⅛”. I found a rose colored piece of cardstock from my stash that went well with this paper and cut that to 4” x 5-¼”. This gave the patterned paper a thin frame around it. I then mounted this to my card base, the darkest gray cardstock cut to 4-¼” x 11”, scored at 5-½”.

With all the card ready to go I adhered the Floral Hi piece to the card with Tombow Mono MULTI glue, this gave me time to move the piece around and get it in the right place before pressing into place permanently.

For an additional sentiment I die cut the smallest banner from the Simple Wavy Banners by Lawn Fawn. Then I treated this piece with an antistatic powder tool, then stamped it with “love you lots” from the Wavy Saying stamp set by Lawn Fawn. I embossed this with White Embossing Powder and mounted to the front of the card with foam squares.

I can not be done with a card until I dress it up with something. So, I took the Lawn Fawn Glitter Pen and colored over the “Hi” sentiment giving that some shimmer. And then finished off the card with some Nuvo Crystal Drops in Gloss White. I always do these last, so I can then set the card side for the drops to dry.

Thank you so much for stopping by and letting me share my creation with you!

Happy Stamping!

Carrie
