Honey Bee Stamps - Lovely Layers "Small Suitcases"

Honey Bee Stamps - Lovely Layers "Small Suitcases"

Marla here from MAD About Cards and Crafts with a fun travel card featuring Honey Bee Stamps Lovely Layers "Small Suitcases" die and the "Ticket to Ride" stamp. Whether you have a friend or family member ready to take off on a big trip, heading to college or moving towards retirement you can make the perfect card with these fun travel related products. Let's hop into my card.

The "Small Suitcases" die is designed to create a fun vintage luggage set.  I played upon the vintage vibe by using muted tones of brown, mahogany, olive green and burnt orange to ink my pieces, which I had die cut using kraft cardstock.  I find that by using my Altenew Stampwheel "Ultra Sticky Mat" I can ink blend with confidence and ease because my die cut pieces, both large and small, hold in place beautifully.  Next, I assembled my luggage.  I enjoyed mixing and matching my die cut pieces to create four vintage suitcases.  I added foam squares to the back of each suitcase and set them aside to begin working on my backgrounds.

I started with two pieces of 4.25" x 5.5" white cardstock.  I stamped several elements from the "Ticket to Ride" stamp set in different directions, with mahogany ink, onto my first panel.  For the second panel, I wanted to add something unexpected to soften up the card design.  I chose to use the Honey Bee Stamps "Climbing Rose" stencil.  I inked it with a combination of oranges and greens that would coordinate with my suitcases.  I trimmed down both layers and added color coordinated mats behind them for an additional pop of color.

Before assembling the card, I used the "Ticket to Ride" stamp and mahogany ink to stamp my sentiment onto kraft cardstock.  Using a paper trimmer, I cut it down and added the same foam squares I had used for my suitcases to keep the dimension uniform.  Finally, I assembled the card.  I tucked my sentiment in between the suitcases, which I thought balanced out the design.

Thank you for stopping by.  I hope you were inspired by my card today.  Until next time..... Marla
