Hey there friends, Katie here. I am happy to share a lovely Scandinavian style holiday card for you today. It features some new products from Spellbinders’ Winter Tales Collection.
I have some Scandinavian heritage and I enjoyed using this die set to make a lovely holiday card. I started by die cutting the bird in Kraft Cardstock. Then, I used my blending brush and Vintage Photo Distress Ink to add some brown shading to the head and breast.
Next, I cut out the same image in red. I used a bright red, cherry like cardstock. I mounted the two layers together. I used a bit of other cardstock behind to reinforce the cut outs so they don’t fall out.
Then I cut out the wings, plume, and tailfeathers in the same red. I used a darker read to cut out the tail feathers again. I put the layers together alternating colors and used scrappy tape and foam to adhere them, the wings and the plume. Then I added some pearls to the head plumage using glue dots.
After the bird was finished, I put it aside and pulled out some plaid paper that accented the reds and browns from the bird. I also pulled out some green cardstock and cut a strip for the middle. I used my Misti with the Spellbinders Peace and Joy Stamps with the brown ink along the right side. Then I mounted this on my 4 X 5.25 patterned paper. Next, I mounted this layer on the green base. Then I came back in and added my bird.
Well, that’s all folks. I hope you enjoyed this post today. This is my last post as part of the SP DT, it has been so fun! As a farewell to me, please check out these amazing products in the shop and hit us up for more inspiration any time.
I appreciate your stopping by! ~Katie
