Spellbinders | Yana's Daisies Collection | Card Making Tutorial

Posted by Deepa Robbins on

Hello crafters and welcome to the ScrapbookPal Blog!

My name is Deepa from @deezinesbyd and I’m excited to share two beautiful floral cards featuring Yana’s Daisies Collection from Spellbinders.

I chose to use some Distress Oxide inks in blues and greys to create a few letterpress backgrounds using the Daisy Shower BetterPress plate. This process is really fun and using the letterpress is one of the easiest techniques in cardmaking! If you wanted to mass produce cards, all you would have to do is letterpress a bunch of these backgrounds (which takes no time at all) and add a scripty sentiment. I decided to use the Yana’s Daisies die set to create a focal point on one card and kept the daisy shower background as the focal point in the second card. To see how these cards came together, simply click the ScrapbookPal YouTube link below.

The ScrapbookPal store has the option to buy the Daisy Shower press plate and coordinating stencils, which are well worth getting. However, I chose to simply Copic color my daisy shower backgrounds.

On my first card, I die cut the Yana’s Daisies set with grey and white cardstock. Then I used some Copics to add some light pinks and peaches to the petals of the flowers. I used some grey Copics for the centers of the flowers and used a die-cut inlay technique to assemble the daisy bunch.

I used some vellum to mute the background of the grey and pink daisy shower background. This allows the daisy diecut to stand out more.

My second card allows that blue daisy shower background to take center stage. I added a small frame from the Dotted Fancy Frames dies by Pinkfresh Studio and then added the sentiment foiled from the Crafty Hugs Sentiments set using Pewter Spellbinders foil.

To add some shine, I added some Pinkfresh Studio Blush, Matte Silver and Clear Ice Drops in the background of both cards. I hope these cards have inspired you to create something similar yourself. Please do check out the tutorial to catch all the tips and tricks as well.

Have a Great Day & Happy Crafting!
