Vintage Postcard with Honey Bee Stamps by Nancy

HELLO FRIENDS! I’m Nancy Sheads from Rowhouse Greetings and I’m back with a new project featuring some of the stamps from the recent release by Honey Bee Stamps. Now that we’re past the holidays, I’m ready to color spring images and the beautiful birds in the Love is in the Air stamp set caught my fancy!

For today’s project, I’m featuring:

To start, I created a card base from a piece of Neenah Classic Crest 100# paper cut to 5.5” x 8.5” scored at 4.25” to create a top folding card. I also cut a piece of striped design paper to 4.25” x 5.5” and set both aside while I worked on the rest of the card.

For the background, I started by cutting a piece of Copic compatible paper to 4” x 5.25” and placed it in my Misti Stamping Tool. I arranged the images from the Post Perfect stamp set as shown below and stamped them using Versafine Ink in Onyx Black

Next, I stamped the two bird images from the Love is in the Air stamp set on a Copic compatible paper using Amalgam Ink in Obsidian by Gina K. Designs. I colored the images with Copic markers using the colors shown below. For added depth, I started with gray tones (C3, BV23, C7) to underpaint the shadowed areas of the birds and then applied the blue tones (B32, B14, B45) on top. I cut out the bird images using the coordinating dies and applied foam adhesive squares to the back of the images.

Originally, I planned on diecutting other images from the Love is in the Air set, but decided to stamp and color them directly on my background. So I placed my background back into my Misti Stamping Tool and stamped the branches and the envelope images using Amalgam Ink in Obsidian. I colored the images with Copic markers using the colors shown below.

Once the coloring was completed, I applied Wink of Stella to the wax seal on the envelope for a bit of sparkle. I applied foam tape on the reverse of the background for dimension.

Finally, I assembled the card as shown. After it was all together, I decided that it really needed a small sentiment so I carefully stamped the “hello” sentiment from the Buzz stamp set using the Catherine Pooler Designs Mini Ink Pad in Blue Suede.

Let’s take another look at the finished card!

That’s all for me today! Hope you enjoyed today’s project!
