Poinsettia Card By Jen

Poinsettia Card By Jen

Step 1: I used a very faint ink (Antique Linen) to stamp the design on to some white card. You're welcome to stamp or draw out your design using whatever color you have. I used a very faint color because I didn't want the ink to show when the coloring was finished.

Step 2: Start with the floral buds at the center of the poinsettia. (Y13)

Step 3: Add green to bud area where the stems would be. (YG13)

Step 4 & 5: Add some dots of red to the tops of the buds. (R22 and R29)

Step 6: Start coloring the leaves one at a time. Start with the lightest color. (R22)

Step 7: Add detail to the leave where the veins of the leaf are located with a medium red. (R24)

Step 8: Add finer details where the veins are located with the darkest red. (R29)

Step 9 & 10: Using the same three colors (R22, R24, R29) go back over the leaf to blend the colors together. Repeat the process on each of the poinsettia leaves that you want to be red, reserving a few for the green leaves.

Step 11: Using the lightest green, start coloring the green leaves. (YG13)

Step 12: Use the medium green to darken the veining of the leaf. (G05)

Step 13: Use the darkest green to darken the veins again. Then using the same three colors go back over the leaf to blend the colors together. (G09)

Step 14: Repeat the process until all of the green leaves are colored.

Finished card: I chose to cut the finished poinsettia out and layer it onto a card, add a bit of gold twine and a sentiment using Tea Dye ink.
