Spellbinders - Four Petal Collection

Spellbinders - Four Petal Collection

Posted by Deepa Robbins on

Hello crafters and welcome to the ScrapbookPal Blog!
My name is Deepa from @deezinesbyd and today I have this beautiful Floral Thank You card to share with you!

This card features the Spellbinders Four Petal Thank You Floral Dies and the Make Me Smile Glimmer Plate and Die set. The die set comes with a large-stemmed branch that you can attach the die-cut flowers to. However, I chose to focus on the florals for this card and cut these out of blush-toned and white cardstock. To create contrast and help those florals pop, I created a deep blue background with some ink and Spellbinders’ Leafy 3D Embossing Folder. For a more in-depth look at how this card came together, simply click the ScrapbookPal YouTube link below.

ScrapbookPal got the VersaFine Clair line of inks in the shop a while ago and I used the Twilight ink pad to add colour to the 3D embossing folder before embossing. I highly recommend these inks for this method because they have a sticky quality to them that allows them to stick to the cardstock and embossing folder evenly and easily when using this technique. And don’t worry about clean-up – a little water and stamp cleaner is all you need.

The part of this card that took the most time was simply die-cutting the flowers. I decided to use the Spellbinders Tool N’ One with the stylus tip and the foam pad from Susan’s Garden Ultimate Tool Kit to shape the flowers and leaves. Then, I adhered the layers with foam adhesive for more dimension. The small four petal flowers are cut 5 at a time as they are on one die and this makes things easier.

The Spellbinders Make Me Smile Glimmer Plate and Die set are one of those select few great sets for card-makers with little time to create. There are a series of different sentiments with varied fonts on one plate. That means you can foil a bunch of sentiments in one go. Likewise, the coordinating die which is included in this set, is made in the same manner as the glimmer plate. You just line up one die and it cuts all of the sentiments I one swoop through your die-cutting machine. I think this is such a time saver and you could even add a sentiment on the inside of the card too. For this card, I did some foiling on acetate with Spellbinders Matte Gold Foil.

After arranging all of the florals on the card and adding the sentiment, I added some embellishments. I used some Pinkfresh Studio Blush Glitter Drops on the blue background radiating out from the floral bunch. And finally, I added some Pinkfresh Studio Iridescent Drops to the flower centers. This card is 5” x 7” to allow for such a large floral spread, but it can also be made smaller as an A2-sized card.

Have a Great Day & Happy Crafting!
